In addition, Earth Day is an excellent opportunity for children to learn about the environment as they color these free printable badges with their classmates.

What and When Is Earth Day?
Earth Day is celebrated on April 22 every year. The day marks the anniversary of the first Earth Day in 1970, organized by U.S. Senator Gaylord Nelson and inspired by Rachel Carson’s book Silent Spring. Since that time, people from all over the world have come together to celebrate nature and protect it from pollution and other threats to its existence. Today, Earth Day is a global festival that encourages everyone to take action for the environment and become an advocate for the planet’s health and well-being.
Earth Day also has a special place in the hearts of many Americans, who are proud to be part of a country that values its natural resources. On this day, people across the country take time to get outside and enjoy nature’s beauty, including in many schools.
That’s why I’m so excited about sharing these free Earth Day worksheets! We must instill a love of Earth Day and environmentalism while kids are young.
What do we do on Earth Day?
Earth Day has become a day to celebrate our planet and all it provides us. Activities such as planting trees, cleaning up beaches, and recycling are common on Earth Day.
Kids also spend the day learning how to be stewards of the earth, recycling techniques, and making Earth Day activities crafts. Who says they can’t also have a fun Earth Day?!

Free Earth Day Printable
In honor of Earth Day, I have created a free printable badge that can be colored in by your kids or students. This activity is excellent for elementary and middle school classrooms but can also be enjoyed by younger kids with help from an adult.
To make these Earth Day Free Printable Badges, you’re going to need either markers, coloring pencils, or even crayons. Once the badge has been colored in, have the child (or assisting adult) carefully cut it out. You can either use a safety pin or strong tape to apply the badge to kids’ clothing.
