How’s everyone’s Summer going? Since my son was in kindergarten this past year, this was the first time we’ve had the traditional “Summer” experience with long days at the pool, exhaustive family road trips, late nights, and lazy mornings. This, of course, means that every waking moment that I’m not slathering sunscreen over my boys, I’m trying to squeeze in work to meet deadlines and obligations. I love Summer but I’m exhausted already!

The Living Is Not Easy
The only consultation is that I know I’m not the only one! We’re all struggling to keep our heads afloat when it comes to the craziness of Summer break. Whether you’re constantly shuttling from one camp to the next or pulling out your hair as the kids bounce off the walls at home, giving your children the best Summer vacation you can think of is time-consuming, exhausting, and…totally worth it.
I may have to wake up at 4 am to squeeze in a few hours of work but you know what? We got to spend all day at the zoo yesterday talking about oceans, animals, interests, and futures. We fed giraffes, for goodness sake! Yesterday was the kind of day that we won’t soon forget. I try to remind myself just how precious these days are and that they soon will come to an end when both of my boys go to school in a month. <sob>
T-Minus 30 Days
In anticipation of school starting and the return of my workout routine, I got these awesome Nike Flex Fury running shoes. Thank goodness because I tore a lateral ligament in my ankle a few months ago that I’m still recovering from so I’ve been told to wear athletic shoes pretty much exclusively (even while just at home which is torture to this barefoot-loving girl!) I love how light and supportive these shoes are and the insanely bright pink is always fun.
Color Me Inspired
While my boys were playing with the backyard sprinkler, I had a little bit of time to sit and draw up this “I’m Doing This For Me” coloring page (Shhh, don’t tell my podiatrist I wasn’t wearing my tennis shoes!) I thought it would be nice to hang somewhere when you need that little extra push to tie up your laces. I know it’s going to be tough for me personally to get back into the workout routine so I need all the inspirational help I can get!

I hope you all are having a great Summer and tons of memories are being made. I know you’re exhausted and probably surviving on coffee but in a month these will all be sweet memories. Stay awesome, parents, you’re doing a great job!

I love the shoes you shared! I am all about comfort now….I ditched heels a few years ago. You reminded me that I need to make a stop at Famous Footwear for some new shoes for fall. A girl’s gotta do what a girl’s gotta do! 😉

It’s been hard giving up wearing flip flops everywhere but my happy feet definitely make up for it!
