Teacher Appreciation Week

Teacher Appreciation Week is an event that is held annually in the United States during the first week of May. The purpose of Teacher Appreciation Week is to celebrate and honor the contributions of teachers to our society. Teachers are important role models and educators who play a vital role in our children’s lives.

There are many ways to show your appreciation for your favorite teacher during Teacher Appreciation Week. Some people choose to write a heartfelt letter or make a small DIY gift. Others may decide to do something more elaborate, such as throwing a party or organizing a classroom activity.

No matter how you choose to celebrate, remember that the most important thing is to let your teacher know how much you appreciate them!

What is the best teacher appreciation gift?

The best teacher gift ideas are the ones that come from the heart. It doesn’t have to be expensive or elaborate, but it should be something that your teacher will appreciate and remember.

Another factor to keep in mind: Does your teacher actually need the gift? Many teachers already have enough mugs, pencils, soaps, and school supplies. Instead of giving a material gift, consider giving your teacher an experience, such as tickets to a show or a gift certificate for a massage. A quick search on Pinterest will present tons of options for free printable gift tags that will work with almost any theme.

When in doubt…a gift card to a store or restaurant you know they like will always be appreciated. That’s why I created this Smarties free printable tag so that you could assemble it with or without a gift card section. My standard go-to are gift cards to Starbucks, Target, or Amazon but it’s best to always go with something you know your teacher likes. Remember: the best teacher appreciation gift ideas are the ones that allow them to get some of their favorite things!

Are you looking for a new printer?

If you’re in the market for a new printer, I highly recommend the Epson ET-8550. This printer is fantastic! It prints, copies, and scans. It also has built-in Wi-Fi and Ethernet, so it’s easy to connect to your home or office network.

The Epson ET-8550 is the perfect printer for anyone who needs an all-in-one solution but wants a bit more quality than your standard home printer.

I’ve used so many printers and, honestly, this is the first one that has impressed me with its quality. Just look at the color richness and complete fill for the Smartie printable!

Two of my favorite features of the Epson ET-8550:

 • It prints on a wide variety of paper types and sizes! I love the 13″ x 19″ poster paper and the Velvet Fine Art paper (which I used for this project).
 • The Eco-Tank feature means you don’t have to purchase printer cartridges frequently. Just fill the tanks when they’re empty and continue printing!

I can’t imagine a better printer for anyone who needs to use their printer regularly. Whether you’re printing photos or brochures, this printer will not disappoint. So if you’re in the market for a new printer, I recommend checking out the Epson ET-8550!

What is Teacher Appreciation Week

Teacher Appreciation Week is an event that celebrates all the hard work that teachers do throughout the school year and beyond. It’s a time to show our gratitude for all they’ve done for us and let them know how much we appreciate them.

Teacher Appreciation Week is usually the first week of May, but it can vary from year to year. Teacher Appreciation Day is always the first Tuesday of May.

Most schools celebrate the week with different activities for students and families to participate in. There’s usually ample creativity, cookies, candy, affection, and handwritten notes during the week. Nothing is too great for the best teacher!

How to Show Your Teacher Appreciation

There are many different ways to show your teacher appreciation. Some people like to buy their teachers gifts, while others prefer to write them heartfelt thank you notes. Whatever you choose to do, make sure it comes from the heart and that your teacher knows just how much you appreciate them.

Here are a few ideas to get you started:

1. Buy your teacher a small gift. A mug or a plant is always appreciated.

2. Write your teacher a thank you note from you or your kid. Take the time to express how much they mean to you and how much you appreciate all they’ve done for a great school year.

3. Give your special teacher a gift card (Starbucks perhaps?). It’s a great way to let them know you’re thinking of them, and it allows them to buy something they want or need. You can even get a digital gift card for last-minute gift giving!

4. Make a homemade gift. If you’re crafty, put your skills to use and make your teacher a one-of-a-kind gift.

5. Volunteer in your teacher’s classroom. Show your support by offering to help out in their classroom. They’ll appreciate the extra help, and it’s a great way to show you care.

How to Make a Free Printable Thank You Card for Your Teacher

One of the best ways to show your teacher appreciation is a handwritten thank you card. These cards are simple to print out, and they’re sure to make your teacher feel appreciated.

All you need to make your thank you card is a printer and some paper. My absolute favorite printer ever is the Epson EcoTank ET-8550. It’s a bit more expensive than your standard conventional printer but it can print a huge variety of paper sizes and the quality is just amazing.

After you’ve printed out my Teacher Appreciation Alphabet Thank You Card, take some time to write out a thoughtful message to your child’s teacher. Good teachers are truly such a lifetime gift to students and deserve all the compliments you could possibly write in a thank you card.

If you’re having a difficult time finding the inspiration or the right words to write in a teacher appreciation card, another option would be to have your child write it out instead. Is there anything sweeter than a child talking about their wonderful year with a magical teacher and then signing it with the child’s name? I think not!

The 100 balloons are color-in, and then you can add a picture cutout of each student “floating” away. It’s the perfect way to document memories from 100 days in one printable that will last forever!

Making friends and learning new things are two of the best memories from my school days. We didn’t celebrate 100 days of school when I was a kid, but I got to experience the day with my kids. They always love counting down the days and celebrating this fun day in school.

100 Days of School Celebration

Celebrating the 100th day of school is a fun way to observe all the hard work, and dedication kids have given at school. Here are a few easy ideas on how you can easily mark the day:

 • Hang 100 paperclips from 100 balloons
 • Make 100 gumballs and put them in a jar.
 • Take 100 pictures of your kids with some instructions on what to do for the 100th day.
 • Hang 100 streamers from a newel post or doorway
 • Tape 100 pieces of candy to a posterboard
 • Make a 100-day photo collage.
 • Have a 100th-day party with games and food-centered around the number 100
 • Have kids make t-shirts with 100 items on them
 • Put 100 items in a jar and have kids take turns picking one out.
 • Use 100 bandaids as part of an obstacle course.
 • Have 100 kids make 100 paper airplanes and then launch them outside
 • Make 100 cards for each student with a special note to celebrate 100 days of school. Students can write what they have learned, their favorite memory from this year so far, or how much fun they’ve had at the party.
 • Add some bling to your celebration by making 100 paper pom-poms and hanging them on 100 balloons.
 • Each student can write 100 things they learned this year in 100 words or less.
 • Make 100 pinwheels to send home with each child as a keepsake from the celebration party.

There are so many different ways to celebrate the day!

100 Balloon Free Printable for Classroom

I created this free printable as another fun way to document 100 days of learning. There are 100 balloons on each page with the words “100 days of school has flown by!” I also included a space for kids to add their pictures. You can either color in the balloons or use cutouts of your students.

What is a Cricut Digital Cutting Machine?

If you’re unfamiliar with them, Cricut has a line of digital cutting machines that, at their most basic, can cut intricate shapes and designs from a variety of materials. Of course, that totally simplifies the huge amount of projects that any can make of the Cricut machines. For this article, I’ll use my Cricut Maker 3, but you can make all the projects with the Explore 3 as well. You can find out more information about Maker 3 in this review post I wrote when it was first released. You’ll be amazed by what this versatile machine can do for any DIY project. From complicated to simple DIY projects, the possibilities are truly endless!

Creating DIY Classroom Decor

Teachers are some of the busiest people I know, so it makes perfect sense to use a Cricut machine to make their life easier. When decorating their classroom, it’s much easier because they have everything cut out for them. They don’t have to worry about measuring or cutting anything out by hand, saving so much time and frustration. A Cricut machine is perfect for bringing their classroom theme ideas to life! Teachers are also extremely frugal! They already know that making their classroom decorations is inexpensive than purchasing at their local store. By making their own versions of things like hall pass holders, welcome signs, and teacher totes, they can save money and customize them to their style and classroom color scheme.

The Perfect Welcome Sign

One of the Cricut projects that would be useful for a teacher is a custom welcome sign that matches the classroom color scheme. This way, they can put their name on the sign and display it at the front of the door year after year. I made this welcome sign for a music teacher’s classroom with elements from Design Space. After cutting the musical notes from various paper colors, I glued them to the back of a frame. The black wording was cut from Permanent Smart Vinyl and applied to the interior of the glass pane. Having the art enclosed in the frame will help prevent any little wandering hands from peeling up the vinyl.

Custom Hall Pass Holder

Teachers are absolutely amazing at keeping their classrooms organized. Having a hall pass holder is essential when trying to keep track of 30 or more kids! Again, I made this project to fit perfectly in a music class, but you can easily adjust the patterns for any classroom decor ideas. Easy customization is one of the things that I love most about Cricut!
Music Teacher Back To School-8
Music Teacher Back To School-9
After I applied the Smart Iron On background to the painted wood plaque, I transferred the Smart Vinyl colorful letters right on top of it. I like using heat transfer vinyl when applying directly to wood because it has a stronger bond, but you’re welcome to use Smart Vinyl for the whole project. After the plaque is done, I customized some name tags with permanent vinyl and clipped them to the bottom. Now, when a kid needs to go to the nurse or the bathroom, the teacher knows exactly where to grab a hall pass!

Teacher Tote Bag

Keeping organized during this chaotic season is key in helping teachers look and feel good! Having a place to keep all their teaching supplies makes it easier to find things both at home and in the classroom. This teacher tote bag would make a perfect gift for any teacher! I love using Infusible Ink on projects that I know are going to get a ton of wear and tear. Having the ink infused directly into the material will keep this tote bag looking sharp for years! Again, all of the designs and fonts I used to make this music teacher tote can be found in Design Space. Just cut the shapes from different Infusible Ink sheets (don’t forget to mirror!) and then follow the manufacture’s instructions to apply to the Cricut Tote Blank. Now your custom tote is ready for you to fill up with teaching supplies!

Cricut Loves Teachers

I am obviously a huge fan of Cricut products but I also love the people behind these amazing machines. Not only are they sponsoring this blog post to help share these fun classroom ideas but they’re also gifting a new Cricut Explore 3 to a local music teacher so she can easily make her own diy classroom decor! Cricut knows just how much teachers give every single day to their kids and wants to thank them in return!
Now that you have these tutorials under your belt, you should be able to DIY almost anything else in your classroom using Cricut Maker 3. Creating custom decor for your classroom is a great way to save money and personalize the space. We hope that these tutorials will inspire you to create one of these projects or another DIY in your classroom! ]]>

Teachers are looking forward to getting back into the classroom and meeting new students. Why teachers deserve gifts?

Teachers deserve gifts for a variety of reasons. They are under-appreciated and overworked. It’s important to show teachers that we care about what they do, that they’re appreciated, and that we want to support them. Teachers make a huge difference in our world–we should be grateful for their service, so it’s important to give back by showing how much we appreciate them with a thoughtful gift this year!

Teachers are always looking for new ways to engage students during the school year. Giving them gifts that will help make their lives easier and more enjoyable as they work hard this back-to-school season is a wonderful way to show your appreciation!

What makes the perfect back-to-school teacher gift?

The perfect back-to-school teacher gift is something that teachers need but won’t usually buy themselves–like nice new pens and stationery! But you can also get creative and think of other things like sticky notes with encouraging quotes on them; water bottles; new books for their classroom library; or even plants in motivational planters.

A personalized tote bag with school supplies is a seriously awesome back-to-school gift. Teachers can use it to carry their things in and some bags even have pockets for pencils or pens. Just fill the tote with whatever supplies you think your teacher might need this year–pens, notebooks, sticky notes–and voila!

Teachers are so important. Let’s show them how much they mean by giving back-to-school gifts that will help make their year easier.

Teacher back to school gift bag with craft supplies

What to fill the back-to-school gift tote with?

There are so many things to fill this personalized tote with! Here are a few possibilities:

 • Pens, pencils, and sticky notes for all those last-minute lesson plans
 • Notebooks to organize lessons and plan out the year ahead of them
 • Inspirational sticky notes
 • A water bottle for those long hours in the classroom
 • New books to add to their library
 • Instant coffee and coffee mug
 • Flavored water and custom tumbler
 • Stationery–nice pens and stationery
 • Paints, paintbrushes, and canvases
 • Crayons and other basic craft supplies

The options are almost endless!

How to make a back to school tote

Cricut’s newest machines, the Maker 3 and Explore 3, are perfect for cutting out this free SVG file. All you need is a computer and the internet to get started!

Once you’ve downloaded the free SVG file, open it in your Design Space software, resize according to your tote dimensions, and then cut it on your Cricut digital cutter from heat transfer vinyl.

After the cut is complete, use a heat press (I’m a fan of this one!) to adhere the design to the front of any tote bag. You can, of course, use a tote of your preference. This one is similar to the one I used and I love that it’s made from recycled materials!

Now you’re all set with a back-to-school tote bag that your teacher will love!

Super fun way to add some color to your planner!

Image of supplies needed to make planner tabs with Cricut and finished product.

School is back in session and we’re all about organization over here! Since we’ve got a kid with asthma, one with a history of seizures, and a toddler, homeschooling was the only option we had due to COVID.

I’ve had to learn a ton about how to homeschool in the last few months. Curriculums, online classes, and books, oh my! One thing that has totally saved me has been these planner tabs I made with my Cricut Maker.

I’ve been adding them to books, planners, and printouts in an effort to organize my mind. Granted, my brain is still all over the place when it comes to homeschooling but at least the info is organized!

I love all of OnlineLabels.com‘s products but their sticker paper is one of my favorites. It’s got a really nice feel to it and cuts like a dream! I used the matte version but they’ve got tons of other paper options if you’d like something different.

Once you’ve got you’re supplies, all you need to do is pull the SVG file into Design Space and set it up to print & cut. Now, when you print the file, it’ll have a bold black border around the tabs so that the machine can read where to cut.

Of course, the process will be slightly different if you’re using another cutting machine. I suggest checking out YouTube videos if you’ve got any questions about your machine.

Keep your kid’s back-to-school routine organized with these personalized day-of-the-week masks. They’re made with Cricut Infusible Ink so they’re sure to last!

Five face masks with the days of the week printed on them.

This is a school year like no other. Whether your child is doing virtual learning or planning on going back to the classroom, know that I support your decision 100%. We are all just trying to make the best choices for our families!

If you’re planning on your kids doing face-to-face learning, they’re probably going to have to wear face masks every day. Since they should be washed after each use, I highly suggest keeping at least five on hand. That way you don’t have to do daily wash!

Hand holding supplies needed to make Back To School Face Masks

Cricut Mask Supplies

Making these back to school masks is easy with a few Cricut supplies! Using Infusible Ink allowed for maximum breathability and durability in a way that vinyl wouldn’t.

I used Infusible Ink markers in my Cricut Maker to quickly draw up the days of the week on laser printer paper. HINT: marking the designs twice for optimum color.

Since Infusible Ink works best on Cricut materials, I cut up a 3XL t-shirt to use the fabric to make these masks. Jersey fabric isn’t recommended for masks because it’s too thin so I added an additional poly layer (Pellon interfacing or Oly*fun works). I finished the masks with a matching cotton lining.

You can even make a personalized bag to keep your kid’s face mask in when not in use. I added this “Face Mask Required” cutout I found in Design space to their small Cricut Cosmetic Bag. Perfect way to keep their mask clean!

Personalized Infusible Ink School Week Masks

Keep your kid's face masks organized and clean with these day-of-the-week masks!

Equipment

 • Cricut Maker (or any other machine)
 • Cricut EasyPress
 • Sewing machine and supplies

Ingredients

Instructions

 • Use your Cricut machine to cut the mask pattern from Design Space. They also offer a printed version if you'd rather cut by hand.
 • Cut pattern shapes from Infusible Ink t-shirt, poly interfacing, and fabric lining. You'll be needing five pairs of each material for each day of the school week.
 • Load laser printer paper into your Cricut Maker and draw designs with Infusible Ink markers. To get darker, thicker images, have the machine repeat all the lines by pressing the Cricut logo button again once the first drawing is complete. Remove paper from machine, trim out each day, and apply to one side of mask blank according to the Infusible Ink instructions.
 • Sew the center section of all the mask materials together. Make sure the right sides of the fabric are facing each other. Press the seam open and sew flap to one side.
 • Layer the poly fabric with the lining fabric and then the t-shirt fabric (right side facing down). Sew outer edges. Flip mask right side out and sew a finishing seam along both edges.
 • Fold outer edges in twice with a 10" strip of elastic cording inside. Sew along the folded edge. String the elastic edges through a perler bead and tie off. The perler bead will allow your child to tighten and loosen the elastic for the perfect fit.
 • Optional: cut out this "Face Masks Required" image from Design Space on Infusible Ink transfer paper. Apply to a small cosmetic bag Cricut blank for the perfect place to store your new mask!

New School Year Masks

Not only are these masks fun to wear with each day of the week but because the ink is infused into the fabric, you know they’ll last through all the washings. You could even customize these further and let your kids draw what ever they want on their masks!

I hope having these fun back-to-school masks helps you and your child get excited about the new school year. I know it’ll be a year of challenges and unknowns but at least you won’t have to wash their face mask everyday!
