And there is no better way to get in the autumn spirit than with cute pumpkin spice-themed SVG files for your Cricut. Whether you’re using them for DIY projects, pillows, porch decor, mugs, or t-shirts, these free SVG cut files are the perfect way to celebrate the new fall decor season!

What’s the deal with pumpkin spice?

Pumpkin spice has recently become one of the most popular flavors in coffee, desserts, and even beer. While some may be tired of this flavor being everywhere, many others love the taste of pumpkin spice and look forward to its appearance each fall.

So why do people love pumpkin spice? Part of the appeal may be that it reminds us of autumn and all the cozy feelings surrounding this time of year. Pumpkin spice has a warm, rich flavor that can make even the most uncomplicated food or drink taste special.

I don’t know about you, but I’m not a huge fan of pumpkin spice flavoring! I’d much rather have apple cider or peppermint flavoring. I, however, like the scent of pumpkin spice and have a few candles that evoke fall every time I burn them.

Whether you enjoy pumpkin spice lattes, cookies, or just the smell of this autumnal flavor, there’s no doubt it’s here to stay.

Here are a few other pumpkin spice themed projects I have: Make Freezer Paper Stencils with Free Pumpkin Spice SVG, Pumpkin Spice Season Free SVG & Gift Tag, “More Than Pumpkin” Free Coloring Page

What are SVG files?

SVG file is short for Scalable Vector Graphic. They are graphic files you can open in vector editing software like Adobe Illustrator, Inkscape, or CorelDRAW, as well as in most digital cutting machine platforms. You can then manipulate the digital files by adding colors, changing line weights, and more.

SVG files are great for craft projects because you can scale them to any size without losing quality. You can use them for printable projects like decals, t-shirt designs, and stencils. You can also cut them out with a machine to make things like vinyl stickers and iron-on transfers.

To use an SVG design file with a cutting machine, you’ll need to open it in the software that came with your device (Design Space for Cricut and Studio for Silhouette Cameo). Then follow the prompts to send the file to your cutter.

You can find all my free SVG files in the Tried & True Creative Library, including this “Whatever Spices Your Pumpkin” file. You can find instructions for accessing them below.

Tried & True Creative Library members can use their password and download the free file immediately. Not a member yet? Just enter your info below, and we’ll email you the password!

Disclosure: All free svg files are for personal use only. You can purchase a Commercial Use License here.

Cricut machines: What they are and how to use them

Cricut machines are a great way to cut out shapes and letters for your craft projects. With a Cricut, you can create intricate designs and patterns that would be difficult to cut out by hand. Perfect for free fall svg files for Cricut!

Cricut cutting machines are also great for cutting out vinyl decals and stickers. You can use Cricut to make custom t-shirts, mugs, and more. Cricut cutting machines are easy to use and come in various shapes and sizes. I have all Cricut machines (Cricut Maker, Cricut Explore, and Cricut Joy), but my favorite is the Cricut Maker 3. It’s perfect for HTV (heat transfer vinyl), permanent vinyl, and paper. The main difference between the Maker and Explore is that it can also cut more unusual materials.

Not sure which machine is for you? No worries, I’ve got you covered! Check out the article I wrote about helping you decide which Cricut machine you should buy:

Make Freezer Paper Stencils with Free Pumpkin Spice SVG https://www.triedandtrueblog.com/make-freezer-paper-stencils-with-free-pumpkin-spice-svg/ https://www.triedandtrueblog.com/make-freezer-paper-stencils-with-free-pumpkin-spice-svg/#respond Tue, 07 Sep 2021 18:24:44 +0000 https://www.triedandtrueblog.com/?p=18926 Do you want a quick and easy way to make your own stencils? All you need is freezer paper, scissors, and the free SVG cut file included in this article. Check out these instructions for how to make these simple but stylish stencils!

Freezer paper is a blessing for crafters because it can make your life easier in more ways than one! You can use it to trace shapes without having to flip the pattern over (great for crafts like painting pumpkins), iron-on appliques to clothing, and even transfer images to wood. But freezer paper stencils are super easy and stylish, and they’re simpler than ever with this free SVG!

So grab your Freezer paper, the Pumpkin Spice free cut file, and your Cricut (or a craft knife) – these stencils are quick, easy, and totally doable for even the smallest of crafters!

What exactly are Freezer Paper Stencils?

What exactly are freezer paper stencils? They’re made from cutting shapes out of sheets of thick paper coated with a thin layer of wax on one side. Once you apply the stencil to your desired material and heat, the freezer paper coating will seal and create a bond that the paint won’t slip under (which sometimes happens with a piece of cardboard.) They can be used in painting or even as templates for things like making your very own t-shirts.

Freezer paper is mainly used by people who sew because it’s perfect for keeping fabric from fraying along the edges, but it also has a few other uses. For this tutorial, you can pick up a roll of freezer paper at your local grocery store or department store near the aluminum foil and wax paper. I bought this one from Amazon! You’ll also need a pair of scissors or a Cricut digital cutting machine and the free SVG included in this article.

To make freezer paper stencils, you’ll need one of the free SVG files that you can find in the Tried & True Creative Library. Not a member yet? Just enter your information below to gain access! I may be partial, but I think it’s a convenient free resource library!

Pumpkin Spice Free SVG Cut File

People love pumpkin spice for many reasons. They love that it smells great and tastes even better! And let’s not forget that it has some incredible health benefits too!

For one thing, cinnamon is a powerful antioxidant that can help reduce symptoms of arthritis and rheumatism. It’s also been proven to lower cholesterol levels and blood sugar because it changes how your body metabolizes carbohydrates. Pumpkin spice also contains high amounts of fiber, vitamin C, potassium, and manganese which can help regulate your digestive system.

It’s no wonder people have loved the flavors included in Pumpkin Spice for centuries! It makes perfect sense why we’d want to exclaim our love for pumpkin spice on a tote bag, right?

So grab your Cricut, download this free SVG cut file, and get to work!

The best part is that these free SVG files are available in the Tried & True Creative Library (our free resource library). All you need to do to access them is enter your email address into the form below, and we will send the pumpkin spice design straight to your inbox!

You can download the free SVG file below:

Making the Pumpkin Spice Tote Bag

If you love everything about pumpkin spice, then I’ve got the ideal canvas bag painting idea for you. This pumpkin spice stencil tote is simple to make and will look fantastic when you’re out and about with your pumpkin spice latte!

This Pumpkin Spice Stencil is also a great idea for Halloween and Thanksgiving. You can use this stencil to create spooky designs or even paint on your favorite fall colors. So many ways you can customize this freezer paper stencil!

The design is simple to cut out with either a pair of scissors or a Cricut machine. This stencil will also make a great fall-themed tea towel or pillow cover if you don’t want to paint on the bag. You could even turn this pumpkin stencil into a reusable grocery bag with the right paint colors.

I used a digital cutter to save time on this project, but the design is simple enough that you may just as easily use an x-acto knife. You’ll want to have a cutting mat to protect your work surface. This tote is fantastic since you can customize the appearance with any colors you choose. So, grab your flannel and scarf, and let’s start welcoming back autumn!

You can watch a video of the entire process below:

Pumpkin Spice Freezer Paper Stencil Tote Tutorial

Materials you need:

Step One. For this canvas bag painting idea, you’ll need to construct a freezer paper stencil. I uploaded the Free “Pumpkin Is The Spice of Life” free cut file into my Cricut Design Space software, but you may use any cutting machine (i.e. Silhouette or Brother) you like.

Step Two. Once the file is uploaded, cut a piece of freezer paper large enough to fit the mat and place the paper’s coated side (the shiny side) down. No need to mirror! Select “freezer paper” under the “Paper” section in Cricut Design Space. If your cutting machine doesn’t have this option, I’d suggest using a setting that works with thin paper.

If a digital cutting machine isn’t an option, you could use an 8.5″ x 11″ piece of freezer paper and a printer to copy the design. You can then cut out the image with a craft or Exacto knife. This method may take longer, but the design isn’t particularly challenging, so it’s totally doable!

Step Three. Once your stencil has been cut, set it on top of your tote bag and apply it with a hot iron or EasyPress. Remember to include the little insides of the letters!

Step Four. Paint the inside of the pumpkin with orange and brown fabric paint, following the outline as a guide. I like to use a paintbrush or sponge designed specifically for stencil or foam brushes but feel free to use what you have on hand. You’ll want to dab the paint on with an up-and-down motion. Allow the paint to dry completely.

There are many options for which fabric paint to use at your local craft stores. You can either buy paint that can be used straight out of the bottle or buy an additive that can be mixed with regular acrylic paint. There’s even fabric spray paint! Just make sure to protect your entire surface before spraying, though.

Step Five. Iron the cut-out pieces of freezer paper onto the painted parts to cover and protect the pumpkin from the black paint we’ll be applying in the next step.

Step Six. To complete the pumpkin spice tote, apply black paint over the words and pumpkin outline after ironing the stencil in place.

When the paint on top of the template has dried, carefully remove it from the tote. Make sure any paint on top of the stencil doesn’t get onto the fabric.

Freezer Paper Stencils are Awesome!

This article proved that freezer paper stencils are really easy to make and have endless design possibilities. I hope this article will inspire you to create and paint all your fall and holiday designs on totes, t-shirts, blanks, and more. There is almost nothing that you can’t use this method on!

There are many ways to use your Cricut, including making freezer paper stencils! If you’re looking for other ways to use your machine, check out the vast amount of tutorials and free SVG on our blog!

I can’t even begin to tell you guys how much I love the autumn season! It’s funny because since I live in the desert southwest, we don’t really have the traditional seasonal changes. The weather is still pretty warm throughout fall so the leaves don’t really change colors. (insert sad face!) That’s ok, there’s still much to love so I put it all in this “I Love Fall” Autumn Free Printable!

Materials:

15 Minute Burlap Pumpkin Wreath - Supplies

Step 1. Cut approximately 30″ strand of wire and begin stringing the pumpkins onto the wire. The pumpkins are made of styrofoam so it’s relatively easy to push the wire through. Continue stringing until all 8 pumpkins are in line.

15 Minute Burlap Pumpkin Wreath - Insert

Step 2. Use metal pliers to secure wire ends. It’s ok if there’s an empty space. The ribbon will hide it!

15 Minute Burlap Pumpkin Wreath - Secure

Step 3. Use double-sided tape and ribbon to create a bow. I find it easier to assemble all the elements separately rather than try to tie the perfect bow but it’s your call.

Step 4. Attach the bow to the blank space on the wreath with either hot glue or a smaller piece of ribbon attached to back.

Ice Cream Churro Cups https://www.triedandtrueblog.com/ice-cream-churro-cups/ https://www.triedandtrueblog.com/ice-cream-churro-cups/#respond Thu, 14 Jul 2016 18:27:21 +0000 https://www.triedandtrueblog.com/?p=12205 Take your love of churros one step further and make these super delicious Churro Ice Cream Cups. Ice cream and churros, does it get any better?!This recipe for Ice Cream Churro Cups is presented by HomeRight and contains affiliate links. Their ElectroLight is a must for all bonfires and outdoor cooking!

We are in full swing summer mode over here! We’re planning on spending the last few weeks before school starts enjoying late nights, bonfires, and tons of ice cream. Since National Ice Cream Day is July 17th I thought it would be fun to do a new twist on one of my favorite desserts. These Ice Cream Churro Cups are absolutely perfect for eating in front of a bonfire with your favorite people!

Churro Ice Cream Cups - DessertRevisiting a Favorite

I shared a recipe last year for Cream Cheese Churro Cups and ever since then I’ve wanted to adapt the recipe for ice cream. If you’re unfamiliar with churros (you poor thing!), they’re basically a pipped stick of fried dough covered in cinnamon sugar. You usually get them with either a caramel, vanilla cream, or chocolate filling (although I’m kinda partial to plain.) They are a festival staple in the Mexican community and are every bit as delicious as they sound!

For this recipe, I’m taking the classic churro and piping it onto the back of a muffin tin to create a cup-like shape. They’re really easy to make but do take a bit of planning since the dough needs to be frozen before deep frying.

Churro Ice Cream Cups - PipeDeep Fried Goodness

Once the cups have been frozen solid, run a bit of hot water on the underside to help release the dough. Depending on the size of your frying pan (I like to use a large wok), deep fry a couple cups at a time and stick the rest of the cups back in the freezer until you’re ready for more. I’m thinking a standalone deep fryer would be even better but since I don’t have one, my wok does the job just fine!

Once all the cups have been fried and placed on a paper towel to drain excess oil, all that’s left to do is coat the cup with cinnamon sugar. A warning to the wise: it’s going to be hard to resist taking a bite out of one of the cups. I totally understand because they’re just so warm and yummy looking but the ice cream is worth the wait!

Churro Ice Cream Cups - Cinnamon SugarScoops of Love

And now the time we’ve all been waiting for. Add a large ice cream scoop to the churro cup and drizzle with a bit of caramel! Totally worth the wait, right? I like to use Mexican caramel (cajeta) because it’s super delicious but any available type will do. Of course, you could add any type of toppings in place of the caramel. Chocolate fudge would be pretty amazing too!

Churro Ice Cream Cups - Ice CreamSummer Nights

There’s just something about summertime that makes you want to hang out with family and friends outside as the sun goes down. We have a small fire pit in the back yard that is perfect for congregating around while the children play in the pool or playscape. I love having the HomeRight ElectroLight Fire Starter because it means we can get the bonfire going in just a matter of minutes. The fuss and smell of lighter fluid are all but a distant memory now!

Check out the awesome ElectroLight price on Amazon!

Churro Ice Cream Cups - HomeRightHappy Summer

I’m not exaggerating when I say you have to make this recipe! Delicious doughy goodness with sweet ice cream and caramel…what’s not to LOVE?! Sweet little "I Love You More" Mini Love Notes to let that special someone know just how much you love them! Five free designs to choose from!If you read this blog for a bit, you’ll quickly realize that I’m a huge fan of all things Fall! What’s not to love about changing leaves, warm flannel blankets, and pumpkin patches? Since I was thinking about all the things I love about Autumn, I thought it would be fun to make up these “I Love You More” Mini Love Notes to let my friends and family know just how much they mean to me. Why don’t we take a little virtual walk through some of my favorite things about Fall?

"I Love You More" Mini Love Notes - BooksI Love You More Than Books

I’ve been a book lover for as long as I can remember and to this day, I have a hard time falling asleep without a book in my hand. I’m such an introvert that books gave me a place to escape to when I was trying to avoid the real world. Curling up on the couch on a cool Autumn day with a good book, a quilted blanket, and my warm Minnetonka Moccasins sounds like my kind of heaven!

"I Love You More" Mini Love Notes - CoffeeI love You More Than Coffee

I started my love affair with coffee after I had kids and it’s only grown stronger in the years since! There’s just something about the smell and flavor of coffee that wakes up the senses and gets you going on these cold Fall mornings. I’m actually a big fan of tea as well but for me and my house, coffee is thicker than blood!

"I Love You More" Mini Love Notes - PumpkinsI Love You More Than Pumpkins

I’m actually not the biggest fan of pumpkin flavoring or food but I absolutely LOVE decorating with them! I’m always that crazy lady you see walking from the pumpkin patch with 15 different varieties of pumpkins in her basket. All the different colors and shapes just speak to my Autumn-loving heart! (and, yes, I actually wear my Minnetonka Moccasins out and about! They have a rubber sole that makes running out for a quick errand comfortable and safe.)

"I Love You More" Mini Love Notes - SewingI Love You More Than Sewing

Even though I come from a family of sewers, I didn’t fall in love with sewing until my mid-twenties when I started making purses. Eventually the hobby became a business and I designed and manufactured personal accessories for the next 7 years. I had to retire from Gerbera Designs when my boys came around but I still love to sew to this day. You know it’s true if I say I love you more than sewing!

"I Love You More" Mini Love Notes - HalloweenI Love You More Than Halloween

Last but not least, one of my favorite (if not my absolute favorite) things about this time of year is Halloween! I love that from decorating to costume making, handmade ideas rule supreme and no one bats an eye when they see skeleton hands hanging from your door! Halloween will always be my favorite time of year and yet…I still love you more!
