How do you celebrate Independence Day?

We usually meet at my sister’s house with all the kids and grandparents to watch fireworks and eat good food. Such amazing memories!

Last year the pandemic ruined all of that but I’m hopeful that this year we’ll be able to do something as a family again.

Hanging out with the kids running around and laughing with sparklers with their cousins? Is there anything better?!

Four red and blue tassels to be used on Fourth of July Pillow Cover

Fourth of July Pillow Cover

Time needed: 15 minutes.

Use the free SVG file and super easy tassel tutorial to make this patriotic Fourth of July Pillow Cover in just minutes!

Supplies needed:

– 2 Skeins Embroidery Floss (red & blue)

Blank Iron On Pillow Cover

  1. Free SVG File

You can grab the free SVG Fourth of July Pillow Cover by entering your email below. Pull the file into your digital cutting machine program and cut the two different colors out of vinyl.

Supplies needed to make this Fourth of July Pillow Cover

  2. Layer Vinyl Colors

Working one color at a time, lay out the vinyl design in the center of the pillow cover and press in place with either an iron or EasyPress. Repeat step with the next color. Set aside to cool.

Lay cut vinyl onto pillow cover

  3. Tassel Making

Each embroidery floss skein will make two tassels. Remove the paper tags from the skein and carefully open to a circle. Cut two 12″ sections of thread off of skein and use that to tie a knot at the top and bottom. Make sure to leave the threads long so you can use it to attach to pillow.

Tie the top of embroidery floss to make an easy tassel

  4. Finish Tassel

Cut skein in half through the center and tie another piece of thread about an 1″ down from the top to create the finished tassel.

Tie piece of embroidery floss around top of tassel

  5. Attach to pillow

String top through the upholstery needle and thread into each of the corners.

A large embroidery needle positions the tassel in place on the corner of the cover

Happy Fourth of July!

I love how easy this Fourth of July Pillow Cover was to make but I love even more how it looks on my couch! I’ll definitely be using it for years to come!

Stars and Stripes Pillow Free Cutting File - SuppliesUse your cutting machine to cut out the pattern and begin to weed the excess vinyl away. As you can see, I decided to cut my design from three different colors but you’re more than welcome to do more or less. Totally up to you!

Stars and Stripes Pillow Free Cutting File - WeedSince I was using multiple colors, I had to trim my pieces so that I could lay them all out before ironing. Some of the pieces (the stripes and “forever”) actually had to be trimmed right up to the vinyl for proper placement. Almost done!

Stars and Stripes Pillow Free Cutting File - PlaceAfter I was happy with the layout, I placed a protective piece of fabric over the vinyl and ironed on high. Now for the big reveal…

Stars and Stripes Pillow Free Cutting File - IronTada! I totally love how clean and modern this Stars and Stripes Pillow is going to look on my couch! I’m thinking of making a few other accent pillows that have minimal designs on them to match. Maybe a thin pillow with just a line of stars. What do you guys think? Hope you all enjoy the free cutting file and don’t forget to enter the giveaway below!

4th of July Paper Firecrackers for Kids - SuppliesMaking this really couldn’t be easier! You’ll need the free “4th of July Paper Firecrackers” Free Printable, a straw, tape, and some Oly-fun or tissue paper if you want to add streamers. The printed paper straws add a fun element to this project but obviously, you can use any straw available. I love the idea of having a small table reserved for this project at your 4th of July shindig!

4th of July Paper Firecrackers for Kids - ColorAllow your child to choose which one of the 5 designs he/she likes best and let them loose with some colored pencils! Don’t worry if they don’t keep within the lines or choose to use non-traditional 4th of July colors. Firecrackers aren’t meant to be perfect. Plus, they’re having enough fun coloring that you’ll probably have enough time to grab another slice of apple pie from the dessert table!

4th of July Paper Firecrackers for Kids - AttachIf working with older kids, have them cut a strip of Oly-Fun or tissue paper fringe equal in width to the cut-out paper firecracker. Use tape to attach to the base of the firecracker.

4th of July Paper Firecrackers for Kids - AssembleFold the edges of the 4th of July Paper Firecrackers together and tape closed. Fold another a piece of tape over the tip of the “firecracker” (opposite the fringe end) and secure. You want to make sure the paper firecracker is as airtight as possible to achieve ultimate flight velocity!

4th of July Paper Firecrackers for Kids - Fire!Only thing left to do is to slip the straw inside of the 4th of July Paper Firecracker, blow a puff of air, and watch as the kids squeal with joy as the paper tube goes flying through the air! Hope you and the kids have fun making these on 4th of July!

Well, I’ve been working super hard to remedy that! The last few weeks have been all about red, white, and blue crafts on my site and I am plum tuckered out! (I’ve never used that saying before but for some reason, it seemed appropriate. Is it “plum” or “plumb?”)

Honestly, I’m still not 100% into the whole 4th of July craft scene. I totally love to see everyone’s amazing decor and it’s nice to have a few extra things to decorate my house with but I have a feeling it’ll never be like Halloween or Valentine’s Day. That’s just me though! Do you go all out for the fourth?
